Senior Data Engineer

BlackLine is a company founded in 2001, providing cloud software that automates and controls the entire financial close process. The company aims to modernize finance and accounting functions and delivers innovative SaaS solutions globally. This role focuses on the AI-powered Invoice-to-Cash (I2C) solution, a platform that uses intelligent automation to improve accounts receivable processes.

• Strong hands-on experience with Snowflake including data modelling, performance tuning, and security features.
• Proficiency in Power BI, including DAX, Power Query, report design, and Power BI service.
• Proven experience building and operating production ELT/ETL pipelines using tools like dbt, Apache Airflow, or Azure Data Factory.
• Expert-level SQL skills and working knowledge of at least one general-purpose language (preferably Python) for data processing and automation.
• Ability to use AI-driven development tools (e.g., Cursor, Claude) to improve velocity and quality.
• Strong data quality and observability mindset with monitoring, alerting, and testing built into pipelines.
• Ability to work independently from ambiguous requirements to reliable data products.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for cross-team collaboration.

• Design, implement, and maintain ELT/ETL pipelines to move and transform data from various operational systems into analytics-ready datasets in Snowflake.
• Develop enterprise-grade Power BI reports, dashboards, and semantic models with row-level security and incremental refresh.
• Shape and evolve the end-to-end data architecture to ensure scalability, cost-efficiency, and reliability.
• Apply best practices in data modelling producing modular, tested, and documented models.
• Use AI-driven development tools (e.g., Cursor, Claude) to accelerate pipeline development and quality.
• Build data quality frameworks, automated testing, and monitoring into the pipelines.
• Participate in code reviews, documentation, and knowledge sharing to raise quality and grow technical leadership.
• Collaborate with Software Engineers, Product Managers, and Finance stakeholders to deliver reliable data products and communicate platform capabilities.
