Engineering Manager, Consumer Alliance

At HelloFresh, a global digital-native FMCG company and the world's leading mealkit provider, the HelloFresh Group includes eight brands serving customers across multiple meal occasions. The role is within the Data Privacy team, part of the Order & Subscription Experience Tribe in the Consumer Alliance, responsible for systems enabling responsible handling of customer data globally.

• Proven people-management experience including hiring, performance management, and developing engineers.
• Experience leading a distributed or multi-location engineering team.
• Deep experience building scalable microservices and event-driven systems such as with Apache Kafka, focused on correctness, idempotency, and data consistency.
• Experience designing and operating high-throughput backend systems used by multiple teams and customer-facing surfaces.
• Experience with DevOps practices and cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud, including observability and production ownership.
• Collaborative mindset with ability to work cross-functionally with product, frontend, and data partners.
• Strong communication and active listening skills.
• Self-organized and autonomous with problem-solving and roadblock removal skills.
• Humble leadership style motivated to drive teams to their highest potential.

• Manage and grow a squad of data privacy engineers, including hiring, performance management, and career development.
• Own the quarterly roadmap for data privacy balancing regulatory deadlines, risk reduction, and platform reliability.
• Drive execution on core privacy capabilities: consent and preference management, automated data subject request handling, data retention/deletion pipelines, and PII discovery/classification.
• Own operational health of privacy systems, including SLAs, data deletion guarantees, audit trail completeness, and run postmortems.
• Partner with Legal, Security, Compliance, and engineering tribes to embed privacy requirements early in product and platform design.
• Represent data privacy engineering in cross-tribe forums, managing stakeholder expectations and pushing back on off-roadmap requests.
• Champion privacy-by-design practices and maintain clear, accessible documentation.
• Conduct regular code reviews, mentor engineers, and contribute to hiring and capacity planning.
• Drive a continuous improvement culture and promote company values.
