Senior Frontend Engineer, React/Typescript

DuckDuckGo is an online protection company and a remote-first team of 300+ employees founded in 2008, profitable since 2014 with annual revenue exceeding $100m USD. They develop privacy-focused browsers for Mac, Windows, iOS, and Android, a search engine, a subscription service, and private AI products including Duck.ai.

• 7+ years experience writing code
• Advanced expertise in JavaScript, HTML, CSS
• Advanced expertise in React and TypeScript
• Advanced expertise in web application architecture
• Ability to lead engineering projects with little to no oversight
• Experience building large-scale web applications
• Experience defining success criteria and validating decisions
• Experience collaborating with backend engineers and other platforms such as Android and iOS
• Experience collaborating with product and design teams
• Ability to contribute to technical architecture decisions for complex products
• Willingness to learn new technologies and ideas

• Build and own features across new and existing products using React and TypeScript
• Lead and contribute to developing new and existing products and features
• Demonstrate ownership over major components of the codebase, maintaining and improving them over time
• Write pragmatic, performant, and testable code compatible across settings, devices, and browsers
• Play a key role in improving frontend software architecture while prioritizing privacy and user experience

• Required to attend meetings on camera via video conferencing
• Expected travel minimum twice yearly for all-hands meetup and team retreat
• Flexible work arrangement with no core hours; average 40 hours per week expected
