SAP Architect for Utilities, with AI and German

This role is offered by emagine Polska, an innovative technology company operating at the intersection of SAP Utilities and AI, located in Lisbon. The company focuses on the integration of SAP S/4HANA Utilities with emerging AI technologies such as Knowledge Graphs, Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), intelligent indexing, and vector search in the energy and utilities domain.

• Minimum 5 years of professional experience in the SAP Utilities environment with strong practical expertise.
• At least 3 years of experience specifically in Utilities.
• Deep understanding of SAP S/4HANA Utilities.
• Strong knowledge of typical Utilities processes and SAP architecture for energy providers.
• Practical, hands-on experience with SAP Utilities systems.
• Experience in Market Communication, Device Management, Billing, and/or Metering areas.
• Ability to translate complex functional knowledge into models usable by AI and technology.
• Proven interest and understanding of Artificial Intelligence, RAG, Knowledge Graphs, and indexing technologies.
• Willingness and ability to learn and work with emerging AI technologies.
• Strong communication skills for effective collaboration with functional and technical teams.
• Fluent German (mandatory) for working with German-speaking colleagues, customers, and documentation.
• Willingness to travel approximately 30% for customer meetings and team collaboration.

• Provide deep functional and technical expertise in SAP S/4HANA Utilities.
• Understand SAP architecture and business processes for energy and utility providers.
• Work hands-on with SAP Utilities systems beyond conceptual levels.
• Bring expertise in Market Communication, Device Management, Billing and invoicing, Metering concepts.
• Contribute at developer or technical architecture level when required.
• Understand adjacent SAP products and technologies relevant to Utilities.

Bridge Between Utilities & AI:

• Collaborate with Utilities consultants to translate business processes, data, and domain relationships into structured knowledge.
• Develop and maintain Utilities-specific Knowledge Graphs.
• Structure domain knowledge for effective AI system consumption.
• Define and improve indexing strategies for AI and RAG applications.
• Analyze and resolve issues in AI information retrieval.
• Serve as a key interface between functional experts and AI engineering teams.

AI & Innovation:

• Explore and evaluate approaches like RAG, Knowledge Graph Engineering, Vector Search, Intelligent Indexing, and AI-powered knowledge management.
• Prototype solutions using Python and Machine Learning libraries.
• Assess applicability of emerging AI technologies to SAP Utilities.
• Suggest AI-driven transformations of SAP implementations and Utilities processes.
• Help define technical direction of an innovative AI platform.
