Lead Software Engineer (Python)

A Silicon Valley-based technology company in the security space is seeking a hands-on technical leader to develop technically demanding solutions.

• Several years of commercial software development experience with Go.
• Proven experience building complex, reliable and scalable systems.
• Strong understanding of software engineering principles, system design and distributed systems.
• Experience making independent technical decisions and taking ownership of technical solutions.
• Experience working with complex, established codebases.
• Strong problem-solving skills and a pragmatic approach to engineering.
• Experience providing technical leadership or mentoring to other engineers.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with experienced engineers and technical stakeholders.
• High level of autonomy and accountability.

Nice to have:

• Experience with Python.
• Knowledge of networking, network infrastructure or distributed systems.
• Experience with cybersecurity or security-focused products.
• Background in IT infrastructure, aviation or other technically demanding domains.
• Experience with cloud platforms, Kubernetes or other modern infrastructure technologies.
• Experience shaping engineering practices or technical standards.
• Practical experience using AI tools as part of the software development workflow.

• Designing, developing and maintaining reliable, scalable systems.
• Developing software using Go.
• Designing and implementing new features and solutions within an existing codebase.
• Solving complex technical problems and making pragmatic engineering decisions.
• Contributing to system architecture and technical design.
• Improving code quality, performance, reliability and maintainability.
• Collaborating closely with engineering and QA teams.
• Providing technical guidance and mentoring to other engineers.
• Contributing to engineering practices and technical standards.
• Taking ownership of technically challenging initiatives from design through implementation.
• Using modern development practices, including AI-assisted engineering tools, while maintaining strong engineering standards.
