Junior Cloud Software Engineer

We are Splunk, a company focusing on making machine data accessible and valuable, embedded within Cisco Systems Poland sp. z o.o. Our Quality Interfaces team is part of the Control Loop organization, building standards, quality signals, data contracts, and integration surfaces to support engineering teams' quality posture and decision-making.

• Bachelor's degree with 2 years of related experience, Master's with 0 years, or equivalent practical experience.
• Basic knowledge of software engineering principles and exposure to current technologies via coursework, internship, professional work, open-source, or personal projects.
• Practical coding experience in at least one general-purpose programming language such as Python or Go.
• Good fundamentals in data structures, algorithms, debugging, and writing maintainable code.
• Basic understanding of backend/service development concepts including APIs, HTTP, databases, data formats, and automated testing.
• Basic understanding of software development lifecycle and agile engineering practices.
• Ability to write functional code and unit tests with guidance.
• Ability to read logs, investigate defects, use development tools, and troubleshoot with support.
• Good communication and collaboration skills.
• Willingness to learn secure coding, reliability, and production support.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Familiarity with Python or Go.
• Familiarity with backend frameworks, internal tools, data pipelines, or developer-facing systems.
• Basic knowledge of SQL or NoSQL databases.
• Exposure to CI/CD systems, source control, test automation frameworks, containers, or cloud-based environments.
• Interest in engineering quality topics such as test coverage, contract testing, linting, pipeline reliability, release readiness, or software delivery metrics.
• Exposure to secure coding, privacy-aware development, reliability testing, incident triage, or production support practices.

• Participate in software development with guidance, including requirements, design, implementation, testing, defect fixing, and deployment support.
• Develop and maintain service components, APIs, data collection jobs, validation checks, and internal tools for engineering quality signals.
• Contribute to internal applications and interfaces to help teams inspect quality data and identify improvements.
• Apply user-centered thinking with focus on usability, reliability, secure coding, and privacy-aware data handling.
• Write clean, maintainable code and unit tests with mentorship.
• Participate in design and code reviews and provide constructive feedback.
• Create and update technical and user-facing documentation.
• Debug and troubleshoot issues across development and production environments with team support.
• Monitor and triage incident reports, participate in postmortems, and progressively support on-call activities.
• Estimate tasks, communicate status, raise blockers early, and collaborate with team members.
