Senior II Software Engineer Lead - Akamai Inference Cloud - Remote/Poland

The Akamai Inference Cloud team powers a global AI inference platform supporting customers running inference models and enabling developers to create advanced AI solutions.

• 8+ years of software engineering expertise with advanced skills in distributed systems, cloud services, and platform engineering.
• Experience building and operating internet-facing platform services like API gateways, ingress layers, or infrastructure.
• Advanced expertise in cloud-native architectures using containerization and orchestration technologies such as Kubernetes.
• Proven experience building scalable systems with modern DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure-as-code.
• Technical leadership capability in guiding teams, promoting code quality, and delivering complex platform solutions.
• Experience designing and operating API platforms including authentication, authorization, traffic management, and service protection.
• Expertise in observability, monitoring, alerting, and debugging large-scale distributed systems.
• Experience in capacity planning, performance analysis, and reliability engineering for production services.
• Proficiency in Python and knowledge of Cloud technologies and APIs.

• Lead the design and implementation of critical platform components ensuring performance, scalability, and reliability.
• Drive technical decisions including tool, framework, and architectural choices for secure, scalable inference services.
• Evolve platform capabilities such as authentication, load balancing, rate limiting, firewall integration, and API patterns.
• Design and improve data plane APIs, including OpenAI-compatible interfaces.
• Define and advance platform observability via metrics, logging, tracing, and monitoring for distributed systems.
• Drive capacity planning and scalability strategies for traffic, models, and regional deployments.
• Lead Kubernetes-based orchestration patterns for containerized platform services.
• Mentor engineers through code reviews, design discussions, and problem-solving.
