Senior Back-end Software Engineer (with AI experience) – Remote

Covantis is a Swiss start-up founded in 2020 by global Agri trading leaders ADM, Bunge, Cargill, COFCO, LDC and Marubeni, revolutionizing the agricultural trade industry through digital innovation. The company connects market participants globally, streamlining trade execution and offering AI-powered products that optimize document workflows and contract mapping. It has over 50 employees across 10 countries, focusing on digitalizing agricultural supply chain operations.

• Senior-level software engineering experience (5+ years).
• At least 2 years developing back-end for web applications using common web frameworks.
• Strong experience with any high-level strongly typed programming language.
• Familiarity with best practices in back-end architecture, performance, and security.
• Strong advocate for testing with experience using modern testing frameworks and methodologies.
• Experience with CI/CD and DevOps best practices.
• Experience with monitoring and observability tools.
• Advanced skills in using AI coding agents.

Nice to have:

• Experience shipping LLM features inside a product, integrating major model providers like Anthropic, Google, OpenAI, or Bedrock with structured outputs, prompt evaluation, and caching strategies.
• Strong experience with Node.js and TypeScript.
• Experience developing modern front-ends using React.
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaaC).

• Develop and improve features across multiple products in Covantis' portfolio addressing supply chain operations.
• Work on Covantis QuickDocs, an AI-powered product for document verification and consistency checking.
• Collaborate directly with Product Managers and Designers to understand business cases and shape solutions.
• Participate in technical design discussions and produce technical documentation, including ADRs.
• Build back-end and front-end components of web applications, with contributions to infrastructure and organizational practices.
• Deliver code to production using CI/CD and best DevOps practices.
• Engage in all phases of the software development life cycle, including testing, code reviews, bug fixes, deployments, and incident response.
• Occasionally assist other teams with challenging cases or tight deadlines.
