Senior Infrastructure Engineer (Linux, PHP, databases)

Sopra Steria is one of the largest players in the tech industry in Europe, known for its consulting, digital services and software development. The Polish branch, operating as a Global Delivery Center in Katowice since 2007, currently employs around 1,000 specialists. The Digital Platform Services department specializes in cloud, operating systems, virtualization, databases, backup, storage, networking, and security, serving clients primarily in Scandinavia, Benelux, France, Germany, Switzerland, and the UK.

• At least 6 years of experience in IT positions.
• Hands-on experience in Linux systems administration.
• Experience in PHP development and scripting.
• Knowledge of MySQL/MariaDB databases.
• Practical experience in DevOps.
• Knowledge of Ansible and GitLab.
• Fluent English (B2/C1 level).
• Availability to work on a 5-month project starting in November 2026.
• Willingness to attend visits to offices in Katowice or Gdańsk.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to document processes and share knowledge effectively.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with distributed technical teams.

• French language skills.
• Experience with network configuration tools: TACACS, RANCID.
• Experience with Perl.
• Experience with AI technologies.

• System administration of Linux-based servers (Ubuntu, RHEL).
• Installation, maintenance, and updates of infrastructure-level software and services.
• Ensuring server–network communication including DNS, routing, firewalls, and syslog.
• Automating processes using Ansible, Bash scripting, and Python.
• Maintenance of virtualized environments using VMware.
• Handling incident resolution and supporting performance optimization.
• Participating in knowledge transfer and supervised practice to gain autonomy.
• Providing source code and supporting compilation, installation, and configuration within the new platform.
• Assisting with production deployment and validating correct operation through functional testing in the new environment.

Candidates must be based in Poland due to the fixed-term 5-month cooperation period. The position operates within a three-shift schedule: 08:00–16:00, 09:00–17:00, and 10:00–18:00.
