• 8+ years of experience building and operating scalable, reliable production systems.
• Strong experience designing and operating complex ETL pipelines or high-throughput data platforms.
• Deep understanding of distributed systems concepts including concurrency, partitioning, idempotency, retries, failure recovery, and horizontal scaling.
• Experience with performance engineering: profiling, bottleneck identification, resource utilization, and throughput/latency improvements.
• Experience working with large datasets and designing efficient data transformation, persistence, indexing, and retrieval.
• Deep knowledge of computer science fundamentals: algorithms, data structures, networking, databases.
• Proven ability to design and scale distributed systems focusing on performance, observability, reliability, and fault tolerance.
• Strong architectural instincts and experience making technical decisions impacting multiple teams.
• Ability to mentor senior engineers and elevate engineering practices.
• Ownership mindset with the drive to deliver lasting impact.
• Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
• Comfortable in fast-paced, high-autonomy, product-driven environments.
• Preferred experience in data engineering, data ingestion, product catalogs, e-commerce data, or search systems.
• Familiarity with the stack: Python, Django, Kubernetes, PostgreSQL, OpenSearch, AWS is strongly preferred but not mandatory.

• Drive the architecture and evolution of ETL and data processing systems ingesting customer product catalogs.
• Design systems that reliably process large, complex, and variable datasets with transformations and validations.
• Identify and eliminate performance bottlenecks across data ingestion, transformation, persistence, indexing, and retrieval.
• Design distributed processing systems with guarantees on correctness, fault tolerance, retries, and recovery.
• Evolve architecture of core platform areas as product catalog scales in size and complexity.
• Partner with leadership to define technical direction and plan for scale and performance.
• Mentor senior engineers, conduct architecture reviews, and enable high-quality, high-velocity development.
• Champion engineering excellence in scalability, resiliency, observability, and maintainability.
• Lead cross-functional initiatives across multiple teams and stakeholders.
• Help shape long-term technical vision and engineering culture.
• Influence hiring, onboarding, and growth strategies to maintain a strong team.
