Senior Engineering Manager

At Remitly, a financial services company founded in 2011, the role is within the Global Money Movement engineering teams in Kraków. The teams build and operate high-availability platforms on AWS that manage money movement, financial instruments, and user financial accounts globally.

• Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field or equivalent experience.
• Over 10 years of software development experience including backend with Java, Kotlin, or Go.
• Over 5 years of engineering team management experience, particularly on platform or distributed-systems teams.
• Experience building and scaling distributed systems on public clouds such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Proven mentorship and growth of engineers to Senior and Staff levels, including leadership development.
• Experience leading multiple sub-teams or managing through tech leads and emerging managers.
• Experience hiring and technically interviewing candidates at various levels.
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills across time zones with sound judgment and ability to defend trade-offs.

• Own all aspects of people management including hiring, team structure, performance management, and career development.
• Set and drive multi-quarter technical and delivery strategy in partnership with product and platform leadership.
• Lead the team through complex initiatives such as new-market launches, platform migrations, or scaling services.
• Partner with senior and staff engineers on architecture and technical direction ensuring correctness, reliability, and maintainability.
• Represent the team across cross-functional and international stakeholders, managing influence and escalation.
• Champion engineering and operational best practices, defining metrics and processes for delivery health and quality, and leading cross-team improvements.
