Senior Lighting Artist

Fool’s Theory is a game development company based in Bielsko-Biała, Poland. They are creators of the games Seven: The Days Long Gone and The Thaumaturge. The team is working on The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Songs of the Past expansion in cooperation with CD PROJEKT RED.

• At least 5 years experience as a Lighting Artist in the gaming industry.
• Experience in AAA production.
• Excellent knowledge of lighting tools and pipelines.
• Excellent knowledge of direct and indirect light, luminance, color theory, and composition.
• Solid knowledge of technical and performance limitations of real-time lighting.
• Self-driven to complete tasks timely while maintaining high quality.
• Ability to easily cooperate with others.
• Refraining from using AI generative tools to produce imagery for this job.
• Fluency in English.

Nice to have:

• Familiarity with Lumen and Unreal Engine 5 lighting workflows.
• Experience with custom engines.

• Create dramatic and compelling lighting that supports photorealistic rendering.
• Use light to establish depth and layering while supporting the story and characters.
• Use light to enhance environmental storytelling.
• Deconstruct lighting and textures in a physically based renderer to establish appropriate color correct values.
• Keep artistic style consistent with the defined visual style.
• Collaborate and communicate constructively with Designers, Programmers, and Technical Artists.
• Ensure all lighting deliverables are completed fully and on schedule.
• Produce and maintain documentation to support asset production in compliance with rendering standards.
