Senior Infrastructure Engineer (Linux, PHP, databases)

Sopra Steria is a major tech industry player in Europe with a focus on consulting, digital services, and software development. The Polish branch operates in Katowice since 2007 as a Global Delivery Center with around 1,000 specialists. The Digital Platform Services department specializes in cloud, operating systems, virtualization, databases, backup, storage, networking, and security. The Application Services department focuses on software development, data engineering, testing, CRM, ITSM, ERP integrations, and application management for customers across Europe.

• At least 6 years of experience in IT positions.
• Hands-on experience in Linux systems administration.
• Experience in PHP development and scripting.
• Knowledge of MySQL / MariaDB databases.
• Hands-on experience in DevOps.
• Knowledge of Ansible and GitLab.
• Fluent English B2/C1.
• Availability to work on a 5-month project starting November.
• Willingness to visit office in Katowice or Gdańsk.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to document processes and share knowledge effectively.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with distributed technical teams.

• Experience with network configuration: TACACS, RANCID.
• Experience with Perl.

• System administration of Linux-based servers (Ubuntu, RHEL).
• Installation, maintenance, and updates of infrastructure-level software and services.
• Ensuring server–network communication (DNS, routing, firewalls, syslog).
• Automating processes using Ansible, Bash scripting, Python.
• Maintenance of virtualized environments (VMware).
• Handling incident resolution and supporting performance optimization.
• Participating in knowledge transfer, supervised practice, and gaining autonomy.
• Provide source code and support compilation, installation, and configuration within the new platform.
• Assist with production deployment and validate correct operation through functional testing in the new environment.

Position operates within a three-shift schedule: 08:00–16:00, 09:00–17:00, and 10:00–18:00. Only candidates based in Poland can be offered a 5-month cooperation period.
