Staff Software Engineer SAP

Required Qualifications:

• Minimum 8 years experience with SAP ABAP programming and planning.
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.

Technical/Specialized Knowledge:

SAP Environment & Platforms:

• Proficient development on SAP S/4HANA 2022+ and ECC 6.0 platforms.
• Hands-on experience with SAP Finance (FI) module.
• Experience with ABAP Development Tools (ADT) in Eclipse.

ABAP Programming Expertise:

• Advanced knowledge of ABAP Object-Oriented Programming (OOP).
• Understanding of MVC architecture and SOLID principles.
• Experience with design patterns in ABAP development.
• Skilled in developing and optimizing Core Data Services (CDS) views.
• Knowledge of HANA Query Analyzer use.

SAP Integration & Modernization:

• Proficient in classic enhancement techniques (BDC, User Exits, BAdIs), moving towards SAP Clean Core.
• Experience with SAP web services, including configuration and testing (e.g., with Postman).

Analytical & Problem-Solving:

• Strong analytical skills for troubleshooting and optimizing financial business processes.
• Eagerness to learn and adapt to new SAP technologies.

Nice to Have:

• Familiarity with SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP) and SAP BTP ABAP Environment (Steampunk).
• Proficient in ABAP RESTful Application Programming Model (RAP).
• Experience with automated testing (e.g., C#, Selenium).
• Knowledge of ABAP for FI, Transaction clearing, Special Ledger postings (FISL), and Contract Accounting posting (FICA).
• Experience with Fiori UI development.

Technical Expertise & Software Development:

• Demonstrate strong proficiency in ABAP technology.
• Continuously learn and adapt to evolving SAP stacks, including ABAP for Cloud.
• Provide technical expertise in analysis, design, effort estimation, development, testing, and delivery of scalable software.
• Adhere to architectural guidelines; develop, test, troubleshoot, debug, optimize, scale, release, maintain, and improve software applications.
• Execute development tasks including manual and ABAP Unit tests.
• Perform maintenance, deployment, and release support activities, including off-hours support.

Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement:

• Serve as primary technical contact for the product team.
• Collaborate with product management, teams, and engineering to translate needs into requirements.
• Estimate project scope and timelines, ensuring delivery commitments.

Documentation & Quality Assurance:

• Develop functional and technical specifications, test plans, and documentation.
• Maintain software quality by establishing good practices and writing clean, testable, maintainable, secure code.
• Help enforce coding and quality standards.

Leadership & Mentoring:

• Mentor junior developers and share best practices.
• Serve as Scrum Master, overseeing team activities and agile ceremonies.
• Conduct peer code reviews.
• Identify and address technical issues and opportunities.

Communication & Customer Orientation:

• Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Produce technical documentation including UML diagrams and customer materials.
• Provide support to customers including outside regular business hours.
• Maintain a positive attitude towards collaboration with support desks and end users.
