Senior C++ Developer

Hitachi Energy is a technology company focused on developing solutions in the Grid Automation domain for power systems. The role supports real-time software used in critical global infrastructure with a strong focus on reliability, performance, and security.

• University degree in computer science, engineering, or related technical field.
• 8+ years of experience in senior technical roles.
• Advanced proficiency in modern C++17/20 with deep understanding of RAII, smart pointers, STL, concurrency, and memory management.
• Practical knowledge of C# development.
• Strong experience with multithreading, synchronization primitives, asynchronous I/O, and real-time system design.
• Proficiency with building systems using CMake, Visual Studio, and cross-platform development on Windows and Linux.
• Experience with containerization technologies Docker and Kubernetes and microservices architecture patterns.
• Experience in performance profiling, optimization, and low-latency systems.
• Understanding of software architecture principles and secure, scalable system design.
• Good understanding of unit and integration testing techniques and frameworks.
• Knowledge of non-functional requirements like performance, scalability, and security.
• Practical experience with power grid management systems, including familiarity with WAMS/WAMPAC, PMU data, and protection and control applications.
• Understanding of power grid operations and related standards.
• Experience with industrial automation systems such as SCADA, IED, and RTU.
• Experience with industrial protocols and standards including IEC 61850, IEC-60870-5-104, DNP3, OPC UA, IEEE C37.118.
• Experience working with power grid industry clients and system integration environments.
• Ability to translate customer requirements into technical designs.
• Solid understanding of numerical methods, signal processing, and control fundamentals.
• Good understanding of power system dynamics and stability challenges with renewable energy penetration.
• Strong communication skills and teamwork.
• Excellent command of English language (written and spoken).

• Develop system design for multithreading, synchronization, I/O, and latency requirements in real-time systems.
• Develop high-performance C++ cores integrating with .NET and Rust runtime services with minimal latency.
• Implement performance optimization by profiling threading behavior, minimizing lock contention, and reducing memory allocations.
• Apply modern programming principles including SOLID, KISS, and DRY.
• Maintain code quality through code reviews and unit testing.
• Participate in technical architecture reviews, design documentation, and roadmap planning.
• Collaborate with engineering, product, and business stakeholders to translate requirements into architectural designs.
• Support technology decisions on dependencies, build tooling, and secure software supply chain practices.
• Maintain cross-platform support and drive modernization of build systems for Linux and Windows.
• Use practical Linux development and deployment strategies.
• Continuously enhance existing systems and contribute new features.
• Work effectively in an agile environment and participate in a cross-disciplinary team.
