Backup & Storage Senior Technical Admin

In the context of a Managed Services contract (7 years), with an international organization in Luxembourg, a farm of 10,000+ servers (Windows, UNIX, VM, and Backup & Storage) located in five datacentres is supported through the entire service management chain including strategy, architecture, transition, and operations.

• 3 to 6 years of experience in Backup & Storage domain within a large environment
• University degree or equivalent through experience and professional training
• Ability and willingness to quickly learn new technologies; capable of self-study
• Strong communication skills, structured and process minded
• Able to maintain a high-level overview
• Fluent in English (at least B2 level); French is an asset
• Able to work independently and manage own time
• Willingness to work in a dynamic multi-national environment with strong customer focus
• Willing to travel for industry events and customer meetings

Good knowledge required in:

• Backup: Commvault and its management tools
• SAN: Brocade, Hitachi and associated management tools
• NAS: NetApp ONTAP (AFFxxxx), StorageGrid (SG6xxx), DELL EMC Isilon/PowerScale with associated management tools
• S3 protocol/Object Storage knowledge (preferably on Cloudian and/or Storage Grid)
• Familiarity with Agile Methodology
• Working knowledge of ITIL 4
• Familiarity with Disaster Recovery exercises

Nice to have:

• Knowledge of Perl, Python, or Ansible scripts

• Analysis and propose configuration to deploy
• Architecture and Reference Configuration definition
• CMDB maintenance
• Decommissioning including data migration, logical disk shredding, and configuration cleaning
• Set-up and maintain Storage devices’ definitions and policies
• Set-up and maintain Backup tool and corresponding application’s modules definitions and policies
• Storage Area Network related zoning and port configurations
• Drive and enforce standards based deployments
• Oversee installation, provisioning, troubleshooting and reporting
• Perform periodic vulnerability analysis with risk and impact assessment
• Install updates and patches to hardware and software in coordination with providers
• Perform routine and preventive maintenance tasks
• Capacity and Performance planning of infrastructure components

Daily activities:

• Monitoring of the Backup and Storage infrastructures
• Incident follow-up and resolution (SMT)
• Present Root Cause Analysis (RCA) after major system events including preventive measures
• Service requests follow-up and resolution (SMT)
• Generate reports on the overall status of the services’ infrastructure
• Cooperate with customers and providers through ticketing and email systems to solve inter-team or inter-provider problems
