Senior Infrastructure Engineer (Software-Focused)

Asana is hiring a Senior Infrastructure Engineer to join their Warsaw office as part of a founding SRE team. The role focuses on building scalable and reliable backend infrastructure systems using a tech stack including Go, Python, Scala, TypeScript, AWS, Kubernetes (EKS), MySQL (RDS), OpenSearch, DynamoDB, Redis, Terraform, and Datadog. The engineer will collaborate globally with teams in San Francisco, Reykjavik, and Warsaw, driving architectural improvements for product reliability and scalability.

• Strong software engineering background with experience writing production code and designing systems using Go, Python, Scala, and TypeScript.
• 7+ years of experience building and operating backend systems at scale.
• Familiarity with distributed systems and storage technologies including SQL, NoSQL, and search systems in cloud environments.
• Experience with AWS services including RDS, EKS, IAM, plus infrastructure as code tools like Terraform.
• Proficiency with monitoring tools such as Datadog.
• Solid understanding of Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) principles including SLIs/SLOs, error budgets, and incident response.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills with stakeholders.
• Curiosity and willingness to learn and apply AI tools and emerging technologies.

Nice to have:

• Experience shipping complex systems beyond scripting.
• Interest in AI to enhance productivity, collaboration, or decision-making.

• Design and build frameworks, tools, and services to improve infrastructure reliability, observability, and scalability.
• Lead end-to-end projects across systems and teams from design to rollout.
• Improve operability of stateful storage systems such as MySQL, OpenSearch, and DynamoDB.
• Debug production issues and participate in on-call rotations, focusing on long-term fixes.
• Partner with product teams to develop a service-oriented architecture for fast and reliable development.
• Share knowledge through code reviews, design discussions, and mentorship.

This role is based in Warsaw with a hybrid work schedule: standard in-office days are Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday. Work from home is usually allowed on Wednesdays, and Friday remote work depends on the work type and recruiter guidance.
