Polar operates in the global payments, billing, and financial workflows sector, focusing on scalable and reliable platform systems for usage-based software and programmable pricing.

• Strong backend and systems engineering experience, including distributed systems, cloud infrastructure, and production operations at scale.
• Deep experience with SQL, relational databases, data modelling, query optimization, and designing for data integrity and performance.
• Pragmatic engineering judgment balancing technical trade-offs, failure modes, and maintainability across infrastructure, backend, and application layers.
• Product-minded understanding of how engineering decisions affect product speed, simplicity, and robustness.
• Willingness to take end-to-end ownership from problem understanding to solution shipping and improvement.
• Interest in building abstractions, tooling, and automation to accelerate the entire engineering team.
• Security-minded approach treating security, access control, and auditability as fundamental engineering considerations.
