Senior Staff Backend Engineer

Meeru AI is building an AI-native platform for finance and accounting teams, connecting to enterprise systems such as ERPs, CRMs, billing platforms, and HRIS. The platform applies machine learning to transform fragmented operational data into auditable intelligence for CFOs, controllers, and FP&A leaders. Deployments include SaaS multi-tenant, SaaS single-tenant, and on-premises across AWS, Azure, and GCP, servicing Fortune 500 finance teams requiring data isolation, auditability, and compliance.

• 8+ years of backend engineering experience in Python, Go, Java, or similar, with significant time at Staff+ level owning complex, data-intensive systems.
• Production experience with Python, strong service design, and testing practices.
• Expert-level SQL skills and data modeling, including window functions and large-scale joins.
• Experience with set-based, reproducible computation over data warehouses such as Snowflake or PostgreSQL.
• Designed extensible, configuration-driven architectures.
• Strong system design skills for reliability, isolation, and reproducibility.
• Mindset focused on correctness, ensuring every result is traceable, explainable, and reproducible.
• Demonstrated technical leadership including setting patterns, reviewing designs, and mentoring.

Nice to have:

• Experience or curiosity in finance, accounting, or analytics domains.
• Use of dbt with Snowflake or PostgreSQL.
• Experience with multi-tenant or customer-hosted deployments across AWS, Azure, and GCP.
• Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, and Terraform.
• Experience with audit logging, data lineage, and feature-flag/controls systems.
• Experience with auditable systems in regulated environments such as fintech, banking, or healthcare.
• Exposure to ML, statistical workflows, or LLM application patterns sufficient for integration.

• Own core backend services responsible for data-intensive computation and result generation.
• Build reusable, configuration-driven computation components.
• Enforce strong controls and guardrails ensuring outputs are traceable, reproducible, and auditable.
• Provide technical leadership, set engineering patterns, review designs, and mentor engineers.
• Partner with data, AI, and product teams to translate domain logic into reusable services.
