Principal Developer Advocate - AI

Autodesk is a company that creates software enabling the design and manufacturing of various innovations, including buildings, cars, factories, and movies. The role is within Autodesk’s Developer Advocacy & Support team focused on Autodesk Platform Services (APS) and related Autodesk APIs.

• 8+ years software engineering or developer-facing experience in web, cloud, or native environments.
• Hands-on experience with REST APIs, SDKs, and modern web/cloud stacks, including producing clean, tested sample code.
• Strong understanding of authentication and authorization patterns such as OAuth2 flows and service accounts, plus secure integration practices.
• Fluency with Agentic AI, Skills, and SDD.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with comfort presenting to technical audiences.

Nice to have:

• Prior developer advocacy, developer support, or partner-facing engineering experience.
• Experience with APS/Forge or familiarity with Autodesk product APIs like Revit, ACC/BIM Automation, and Fusion.
• Experience with Node.js, TypeScript, Python, or .NET; Docker and cloud deployment patterns.
• Familiarity with MCP server/client patterns or agentic AI integration concepts.

• Create high-quality sample applications, SDKs, and reference code demonstrating best practices.
• Produce developer-facing content such as tutorials, how-to guides, blog posts, and short demos for community and events.
• Provide technical support and triage for partners and customers integrating APS APIs; reproduce issues, and coordinate fixes with engineering.
• Work with product and engineering teams to influence API design, improve developer experience, and maintain runbooks and onboarding flows.
• Deliver reference implementations and example code for Model Context Protocol (MCP) servers/clients.
• Leverage generative AI tools to accelerate developer deliverables while ensuring quality and security.
