PHP Platform Performance Engineer

• Ability to analyze and profile PHP code and understand request lifecycle.
• Practical experience diagnosing performance issues in Linux using system tools and logs.
• Design and execute performance tests using tools like k6, JMeter, Gatling, wrk or similar.
• Knowledge of MySQL execution plans (EXPLAIN), indexing, and identifying performance degradation causes.
• Work methodology based on hypothesis → measurement → verification and data-driven decision making.
• Experience solving complex performance problems from diagnosis to production confirmation.
• Comfort working at both application and infrastructure levels.

Nice to have:

• Knowledge of Percona XtraDB Cluster.
• Experience diagnosing and optimizing NGINX.
• Practical knowledge of Redis or Memcached.
• Experience with Elasticsearch.
• Familiarity with RabbitMQ and asynchronous communication patterns.
• Experience with APM tools such as Datadog, New Relic, Elastic APM, Grafana Tempo, or Pyroscope.
• Experience in SaaS multi-tenant environments or high-traffic systems.
• Participation in e-commerce projects handling seasonal traffic.
• Knowledge of Python or Go for building internal tools.

• Build from scratch the approach to platform performance management and define standards and tools.
• Develop observability, including APM, distributed tracing, continuous profiling, dashboards, and alerting.
• Design and automate performance, load, stress, and endurance tests.
• Integrate performance tests with CI/CD processes and implement regression detection mechanisms.
• Analyze root causes of performance issues and prepare improvement recommendations.
• Collaborate with product teams during technical reviews, refinements, and code reviews.
• Mentor individuals responsible for performance in product teams.
• Prepare proofs of concept, code changes, and optimization actions at application and infrastructure layers.
• Define SLOs, conduct capacity planning, and prepare the organization for peak traffic periods.
• Report results and cooperate with the CTO on platform performance strategy.
