Staff Backend Engineer (FDE)

Meeru AI is building an AI-native platform that transforms how finance and accounting teams operate. The platform connects to enterprise financial systems such as ERPs, CRMs, billing platforms, and HRIS, applying machine learning to convert fragmented operational data into grounded, auditable intelligence for CFOs, controllers, and FP&A leaders. Deployments occur as SaaS multi-tenant, SaaS single-tenant, and on-premises across AWS, Azure, and GCP, serving Fortune 500 finance teams requiring data isolation, auditability, and compliance.

• Seven or more years in backend forward deployment engineering, including significant Staff-level ownership of complex production services.
• Experience guaranteeing isolation in multi-cloud SaaS environments.
• Strong focus on correctness and traceability in audit trail systems.
• Expertise in API and service design, including versioning and backward compatibility.
• Practical skills in authentication, authorization, and tenant isolation.
• Proficiency in Python.
• Experience with FastAPI, Django, or Flask; PostgreSQL and Redis.
• Knowledge of REST API design; Docker, Kubernetes, and Terraform.
• SQL proficiency with Snowflake or PostgreSQL.

Nice to have:

• Experience or interest in finance, accounting, or fintech domains.
• Experience with multi-tenant, customer-hosted deployments at scale.
• Knowledge of SOC 2 or ISO 27001 compliance reviews.
• Experience building auditable systems in regulated environments.
• Exposure to machine learning or large language model application patterns for integration.

• Own the multi-tenant APIs for platform result consumption, including design and versioning of service contracts.
• Build review, approval, and exception-handling workflows used by finance teams.
• Implement and maintain multi-tenant isolation including authentication, authorization, and role-based access.
• Create audit trail systems linking user actions to computations and sources to ensure security and compliance.
• Develop services supporting multi-cloud-ready, multi-tenant-ready, customer-hosted deployment.
• Manage performance, reliability, observability, and operational health of services.
• Set backend patterns, review designs, and mentor mid and senior engineers.
