DevOps Engineer (Linux, PHP)

Compuco is a data-driven creative technology agency that empowers socially responsible organisations, particularly membership, charitable, and cultural organisations, with digital tools to build a better world. They specialize in open-source solutions, including CiviCRM, the Drupal CMS platform, and the CiviPlus platform. Their clients include membership organisations, non-profits like Wikimedia, and government institutions. The company operates as a distributed team with staff in over 12 countries and a head office in London.

• 4+ years experience with Linux administration.
• 3+ years experience with web server and PHP applications administration, preferably NGINX.
• 3+ years experience with cloud technologies, mainly AWS, including 2+ years with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform.
• 3+ years experience with shell scripting (Bash, PowerShell preferable).
• 3+ years experience with networking fundamentals including DNS, TLS/certificates, load balancing, VPN/VPC, and CDN/WAF such as Cloudflare.
• 2+ years experience developing automation with Ansible.
• 2+ years experience running containers in production (Docker).
• 2+ years experience with monitoring and observability tools like New Relic, Grafana, Loki or equivalents, including handling production incidents.
• 1+ years experience operating container orchestration platforms (Docker Swarm, Kubernetes advantage).
• Comfortable using AI developer tools (e.g., Claude Code) with good judgment for validation.
• Good Git skills.

Desirable skills:

• 1+ year CI/CD experience with tools like Jenkins or GitHub Actions, including pipeline scripting in Groovy.
• 1+ year database administration experience (MySQL or equivalent).
• 1+ year Drupal administration experience.
• Familiarity with Jira or similar project management and issue tracking tools.
• Good understanding of Agile methodologies, particularly Scrum.

• Develop and maintain production infrastructure and mission-critical systems.
• Liaise with Development, QA, POs and other stakeholders to align with company infrastructure needs.
• Stay up-to-date with security best practices and integrate security at every stack level.
• Monitor and troubleshoot infrastructure issues for live environments.
• Provide infrastructure architecture advice for development teams.
• Investigate new infrastructure technologies and solutions.
