Staff Software Engineer, GKE Networking

Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE) provides managed Kubernetes clusters on Google Cloud Platform. Kubernetes is an open-source platform for automating deployment, scaling, and operations of application containers across clusters of hosts, providing container-centric infrastructure. The Kubernetes Networking team builds networking solutions and abstractions for these environments and drives solutions integration and validation efforts collaborating with partners and customers. Google Cloud delivers enterprise-grade solutions leveraging Google's technology to help developers build sustainably, serving customers in over 200 countries and territories.

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 8 years of experience in software development, and with data structures/algorithms in C++, Go, or Java.
• 5 years of experience testing and launching software products.
• 3 years of experience with software design and architecture.
• 5 years of experience building and developing large-scale infrastructure, distributed systems, networks, or experience with compute technologies, storage, or hardware architecture.
• 5 years of experience in Network Infrastructure.
• Experience with Kubernetes.

Preferred qualifications:

• Master’s degree or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical field.
• 3 years of experience in a technical leadership role leading project teams and setting technical direction.
• 3 years of experience working in a complex, matrixed organization involving cross-functional or cross-business projects.

• Own and lead the architectural planning, evolution, and deliverables for GKE Networking features and capabilities.
• Plan the strategy, execution, and deliverables for GKE development efforts in Networking Virtualization solutions.
• Lead the design and development of network connectivity, security, and services solutions, involving data plane and control plane elements.
• Lead the design and development of network virtualization solutions for container workloads running on Kubernetes platforms.
• Lead the design and implementation of new networking features for GKE platforms.
• Help external GKE customers who encounter issues in production clusters.
