Software Engineer III, AI Agent

Google's software engineers develop next-generation technologies impacting billions of users. The role involves working on projects critical to Google's needs, with opportunities to switch teams and projects. The team focuses on simplifying the creation, deployment, and management of production-grade AI agents through open-source, multi-language ecosystems like the Agent Development Kit and Agent-to-Agent frameworks. The Google Cloud AI Research team addresses AI challenges across various industries, pushing the state-of-the-art in AI and collaborating with product teams for real-world impact.

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 2 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages, or 1 year of experience with an advanced degree.
• 2 years of experience with infrastructure development using Python, Golang, or Typescript.

Preferred qualifications:

• Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical fields.
• 2 years of experience with data structures and algorithms.
• Experience contributing to open-source projects or managing developer communities.
• Familiarity with Google Cloud Platform services or similar cloud technologies.
• Familiarity with Generative AI technologies or agentic frameworks.

• Design, develop, and maintain high-quality, open-source libraries and SDKs for the Agent Development Kit (ADK) and Agent2Agent (A2A) frameworks.
• Build and improve tooling to support the end-to-end AI agent development lifecycle, including testing, debugging, deployment, and observability.
• Collaborate with internal and external developers to understand their needs and translate them into new features and improvements for the AI agent ecosystem.
• Manage individual projects priorities, deadlines, and deliverables.
• Work with cloud teams to ensure seamless deployment and management of AI agents on Google Cloud Platform and other environments.
