Senior Technical Operations Specialist

• 5+ years of proven experience in a technical role supporting multiple systems
• Experience using scripting languages to perform and automate tasks
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code and Configuration as Code such as Terraform and Ansible
• Experience deploying production services into cloud environments
• AWS Cloud Practitioner certification required
• AWS SysOps Administrator or Solutions Architect Associate preferred
• Linux Foundation Certified Systems Administrator (LFCS) or similar is a bonus
• Solid knowledge of Operating Systems and troubleshooting
• Proven track record building and maintaining infrastructure in cloud environments
• Solid understanding of networking for enterprise environments
• Ability to identify root causes and recommend permanent fixes
• Experience troubleshooting in AWS environment and guiding other teams
• Some experience with container and container orchestration platforms like Kubernetes
• Advanced proficiency with Linux and/or MS Windows Operating Systems including process and service management, resource management, and troubleshooting tools
• Deep knowledge of networks, shell scripting, databases (Postgres, MySQL, MSSQL), DNS, HTTPS, and typical 3-tier architectures
• Working knowledge of Windows domain administration, patch management, IIS management, and Group Policies
• Fluent in spoken and written English
• Proactive, confident self-starter with effective interpersonal and communication skills

• Ensuring availability across numerous services, including custom software, commercial software, and free and open source solutions
  • Monitoring system and application performance, and logs
  • Creating and testing backup and recovery procedures
  • Responding to alerts and incidents
  • Investigating and resolving operational issues at infrastructure, network, OS, and application levels
  • Escalating issues to vendors or partners when appropriate
• Following and improving best practices and standards to keep services safe, secure, and reliable
  • Improving or creating best practices for smooth operation and procedure execution
  • Developing and improving SOPs for service and system maintenance
  • Developing and improving Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and Configuration as Code (CaC)
  • Ensuring systems meet non-functional requirements such as performance and protection
• Planning and performing upgrades and updates to services, operating systems, and infrastructure
  • Managing and documenting system configuration following change control processes
  • Writing and validating procedures for system updates and upgrades
  • Performing software updates and troubleshooting issues
  • Communicating plans and progress with internal stakeholders
• Planning and deploying new infrastructure
  • Turning vendor deployment documentation or IaC resources into repeatable and reliable deployments
  • Adapting monitoring and backup strategies to new services and architectures
• Migrating existing systems to new infrastructure when required
• Defining scopes of work and monitoring performance of third-party teams to scale work when required
