Software Engineer III, AI/ML Cloud

Google's software engineers develop next-generation technologies impacting billions of users. The Agent Platforms team focuses on introducing AI/ML capabilities, including GenAI and MLOps, to Google Cloud, ensuring reliability, performance, cost-effectiveness, and simplicity for customers. The Google Cloud AI Research team addresses AI challenges across industries, pushing state-of-the-art AI and collaborating with product teams for real-world impact.

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 2 years of software development experience in one or more programming languages, or 1 year with an advanced degree.
• 1 year experience in one or more of: Speech/audio technology, reinforcement learning, ML infrastructure, or another ML specialization.
• 1 year experience with ML infrastructure including model deployment, evaluation, optimization, data processing, debugging.
• Preferred: Master's or PhD in Computer Science or related fields.
• Preferred: 2 years experience with data structures and algorithms.
• Preferred: Experience with design, architecture, testing, and launching software products.
• Preferred: Experience building and developing large-scale infrastructure.
• Preferred: Experience in C++ and Python.

• Engineer and deploy scalable, user-friendly AI/ML platform capabilities.
• Design, implement, and deploy solutions ensuring reliability, performance, and quality of AI offerings and serving stack.
• Define safeguards, control, and quality gates for development and release processes of Vertex First-Party products.
• Solve intricate, ambiguous problems spanning multiple teams to enhance platform resilience.
• Establish best practices, improve system architecture, and foster a culture of high availability and performance optimization at scale.
