System Engineer for Radio Access Network

Ericsson is a global leader in bringing 5G to market. The RAN Baseband System Management team focuses on describing and specifying advanced features for Radio Networks, supporting 5G deployments worldwide. The team works with signal processing, radio resource management, physical layer algorithms, multi-antenna systems, cloud deployments, 5G software simulations, and deployment support in live networks. They engage with customers, partners, and other Ericsson units, participate in 3GPP standardization, and operate globally with units in Sweden, Canada, USA, Poland, and China.

• MSc or PhD degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Engineering Physics, or equivalent.
• Work experience in relevant areas such as 5G NR.
• Analytical approach with interest in creativity and innovation.
• Dedication, self-drive, and strong interest in cooperation.
• Continuous learning and skill growth.
• Good knowledge of 5G NR mobile communication systems, especially Physical Layer and Radio Resource Management.
• Product development knowledge, preferably with Lean and Agile methods.
• Software development skills in Java, C, and C++.
• Knowledge of simulation environments and tools like MATLAB is an asset.
• Excellent verbal and written English communication skills.

• Perform systems studies primarily in Radio Resource Management, including Scheduling, Link Adaptation, time critical communication, and control channel radio resource management.
• Specify system features and functions, test cases, algorithms, use cases, parameter settings, and address interactions with legacy features.
• Develop network-level software simulations for performance analysis of 5G features and algorithms.
• Drive continuous improvements of products, simulation tools, and processes.
• Lead solution package (SP) studies and participate in system trouble report teams.
• Contribute to advances in 5G standards and 6G readiness.
• Contribute to innovation and Ericsson intellectual property rights, including invention disclosures and patents.
• Support 5G system verification and analyze test results.
• Support deployment of new 5G products and features into customer networks.
• Work with customer troubleshooting and analysis, understanding configurations and issues.
• Collaborate on new features, simulations, and improvements with cross-functional development and customer engagement teams worldwide.
