Senior Software Engineering Manager, Flume ML

Google Cloud develops next-generation technologies impacting billions of users. The team manages a data processing infrastructure product central to AI/ML features for YouTube, Search, and next-generation AI initiatives. The role leads a team in Warsaw focused on evolving distributed computing, advancing scheduleability and auto-tuning capabilities critical for ML pipelines and data workloads.

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 8 years of programming experience in C++, Java, Python, Kotlin, or Go.
• 5 years in people management or team leadership.
• 5 years in technical leadership.
• Experience developing and deploying large-scale distributed systems.

Preferred qualifications:

• Master’s degree or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
• 5 years experience in a complex, matrixed organization.
• Experience designing and implementing Machine Learning architectures.

• Discover and implement advanced optimization techniques to enhance system auto-tuning and resource scheduling.
• Deliver fleet-wide performance improvements collaborating with partners including autonomous driving and frontier AI teams.
• Lead research into AI-driven optimization strategies for efficient and self-healing data processing.
• Recruit, manage, and coach a growing engineering team, fostering technical excellence and professional growth.
• Provide technical guidance and collaborate with leadership and global stakeholders on long-term infrastructure roadmaps.
