Senior Java Consultant

GFT Poland is hiring for a Senior Java Engineer role focused on backend development in Kraków, Poland.

• 4-5 years of commercial experience in Java development (Java 8, 11, 17 or newer)
• Hands-on experience with Spring and Spring Boot frameworks
• Experience designing and developing RESTful APIs
• Good understanding of microservices architecture and distributed systems
• Strong knowledge of SQL databases such as PostgreSQL, Oracle, or similar
• Experience working with Apache Kafka or other messaging systems
• Familiarity with CI/CD practices and modern software delivery processes
• Proficiency with Git and collaborative development workflows
• Experience with build tools such as Maven or Gradle
• Practical experience writing unit and integration tests
• Experience working in Agile and/or DevOps environments

Nice to have:

• Experience with cloud platforms such as GCP, AWS, or Azure
• Familiarity with Docker and containerized applications
• Experience working with Kubernetes
• Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform
• Experience with Kafka Streams
• Familiarity with NoSQL databases such as MongoDB
• Understanding of JVM performance tuning and optimization
• Experience building high-performance or real-time systems
• Domain knowledge in finance, trading, or capital markets

• Design, develop and maintain backend services using Java
• Build and evolve REST APIs and microservices architectures
• Translate business requirements into technical solutions in collaboration with stakeholders
• Work closely with product owners, business users, and engineers in an agile environment
• Ensure system performance, scalability, and reliability
• Write clean, maintainable code with automated tests
• Review code and contribute to engineering best practices
• Deploy applications frequently using CI/CD pipelines
• Support production systems and troubleshoot issues
• Contribute to continuous improvement of development processes and tooling
