Technical Solutions Engineer, Networking/Media Content Delivery

The role is within the Google Cloud Platform team, which helps customers transform and build business solutions using cloud technology. The team supports a wide range of customers including developers, businesses, educational institutions, and government agencies. The position involves working in a global team providing 24x7 support to customers transitioning to Google Cloud.

• Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, or equivalent practical experience.
• 9 years of experience troubleshooting and advocating for customer needs, triaging technical issues including hardware, software, application, operational, and process.
• Experience with at least one scripting or coding language such as Python or shell scripting.
• Knowledge of operating system kernel, file systems, and TCP/IP network protocols including DNS, routing, firewalls, and load balancing.
• Systems experience with Linux, Unix, macOS, or Windows.

Preferred qualifications:

• Experience with Kubernetes or container networking.
• Experience with software-defined networking (SDN) in public cloud environments or with SDN software.
• Familiarity with HTTP protocol and HTTP-based APIs.
• Familiarity with network namespaces, packet capture techniques, and interpretation.
• Knowledge of network-specific kernel parameters such as TCP keepalives and TCP windows.

• Collaborate with a global team to provide 24-hour customer support, including non-standard hours and weekends.
• Manage customer problems through diagnosis, resolution, or development of new investigation tools.
• Act as a consultant and subject matter expert for Engineering, Sales, and customer organizations.
• Develop in-depth understanding of Google Cloud networking technologies and internal implementations.
• Work with product engineering teams to improve supportability and help product teams understand customer issues.

This role requires working in a shift pattern or non-standard work hours, including possible weekend work. Candidates may choose preferred working location between Warsaw, Poland and Dublin, Ireland.
