Software Engineer III, Embedded, Pixel Graphics and Video

Google's Pixel Graphics System Software team develops GPU graphics and compute technologies for Pixel phones, working from SoC conception to field deployment. The team collaborates closely with Android, Pixel Camera, Display, Video, and Power teams, as well as external partners and vendors, to optimize GPU usage in tightly-integrated device packages. The Pixel team focuses on delivering advanced mobile experiences by combining Google's AI, software, and hardware technologies in global smartphones.

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 2 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages, or 1 year of experience with an advanced degree.
• 2 years of experience working with embedded operating systems.

Preferred qualifications:

• Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical fields.
• Experience writing low-level graphics API code.
• Experience with device drivers, mobile graphics, GPU programming.
• Knowledge of OpenGL ES, Vulkan, or OpenCL APIs.

• Develop GPU graphics and compute technologies spanning the full GPU software stack.
• Help evaluate and bring-up of devices, and work with product and engineering teams to define the role and requirements of the GPU in future product designs.
• Debug sophisticated user mode and kernel mode problems.
• Advise Android and Pixel leadership on performance and feature opportunities in graphics software, and scope solutions with partner teams inside and outside Google.
• Seek general solutions to problems, minimizing application or device-specific workarounds to serve users of all Pixel devices, including in-market devices.
