QA Engineering Manager (Android+Web)

SpotOn is a company that builds technology for independent restaurants, including an award-winning point-of-sale system and AI-powered profit tools, serving the hospitality industry with a focus on fintech, merchant services, and SaaS hospitality platforms.

• 3+ years of management experience leading, mentoring, and scaling high-performing QA or software testing teams.
• Strong hands-on technical background in automated testing for Web (e.g., Playwright, Cypress) and Android (e.g., Espresso, Appium, Kotlin automation).
• Experience setting up visual regression, performance budget testing, and perceived latency benchmarks.
• Knowledge managing device testing matrices, cloud device farms or emulators, and physical test environments with connected POS hardware.
• Proven ability to teach, influence, and persuade developers to take ownership of test automation.
• Experience or strategies for utilizing AI tools to accelerate automated test authoring and maintenance.
• Pragmatic problem-solving skills focused on end-user outcomes and business impact.
• Fluent in English (written and verbal) with strong communication skills for both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

• Familiarity with the stack: React (TypeScript), Python (Django), Go, Kotlin, PostgreSQL, Docker, GitHub Actions.
• Domain experience in fintech, merchant services, point of sale, or SaaS hospitality platforms.

• Drive the "Shift-Left" quality culture by embedding quality early in the development lifecycle and promoting shared ownership of automated testing among software engineers.

• Lead, mentor, and grow a team of Confidence (QA) Engineers, supporting career progression and continuous learning.

• Design, refine, and own the Automation Testing platforms and frameworks for Web and Android.

• Manage the device testing lab infrastructure, including physical Android devices, emulators, and peripherals.

• Integrate generative AI and LLM-assisted tools to accelerate automated test creation and maintenance.

• Collaborate with DevOps and Platform teams to maintain reliable CI/CD pipelines, such as those via GitHub Actions.

• Define and monitor quality metrics like user-perceived performance, test coverage, execution speed, flaky test rates, and defect leakage.

• Ensure software resilience to network dropouts, hardware disconnects, and rapid UI interactions in chaotic environments.

• Champion tests measuring user-perceived latency, UI transitions, and end-to-end user journeys beyond API validation.

• Guarantee zero downtime during peak hours for critical workflows across Web and Mobile platforms via regression coverage.

• Accelerate feature shipping through automated, self-healing CI/CD test feedback loops, reducing manual validation bottlenecks.
