Senior Research Data Scientist, Android Tablets

The Platforms and Devices team at Google focuses on researching, designing, and developing software platforms and first-party devices that integrate Google AI, software, and hardware to create innovative user experiences across desktop, mobile, and applications.

• Master's degree in Statistics, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Economics, Operations Research, Engineering, or related quantitative field.
• 5 years of experience using analytics for product or business problems, coding in Python, R, SQL, querying databases, or statistical analysis; or 3 years with a PhD.
• Experience in data extraction, manipulation, experimental design, statistical analysis, predictive modeling, and machine learning.

Preferred qualifications:

• PhD in Statistics, Mathematics, Data Science, Economics, or related quantitative field.
• 8 years of experience using analytics for product or business problems, coding in Python, R, SQL, querying databases, or statistical analysis; or 6 years with a PhD.
• 4 years of experience with statistical data analysis on real-world data including causal inference methods, machine learning modeling, and experimentation.
• Ability to articulate and translate business questions using statistical techniques.
• Skill in selecting appropriate methodology for data analysis problems.

• Collaborate with stakeholders in cross-project and team settings to identify and clarify critical business or product questions, translating these into analyses, evaluation metrics, or mathematical models.
• Design and evaluate models to mathematically express and solve problems with limited precedent.
• Leverage specialized knowledge of custom data infrastructure and existing data models to improve product performance.
• Own the end-to-end data science lifecycle for AI features, measuring and optimizing AI experience impact.
• Develop inference algorithms and estimate user incremental lift using machine learning, statistical approaches, and causal inference.
