Staff Software Engineer, Home Infrastructure

Google's Health and Home (H&H) team, part of Google's Platforms and Devices product area, focuses on improving health and home domains using AI, health behavior science, and user-centered design. The team develops products such as Fitbit, Google Home app, and Nest ecosystem, integrating AI and hardware/software to deliver seamless user experiences. The Health and Home Infrastructure team maintains scalable, high-queries per second distributed systems that ensure reliability and low-latency performance across Home and Health services.

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 8 years of experience with software development in Java or C++.
• 5 years of experience testing, maintaining, and launching infrastructure with software design and architecture.
• 3 years of experience developing large-scale distributed infrastructure or storage or distributed data processing.
• 3 years in a technical leadership role leading project teams and setting technical direction.

Preferred qualifications:

• Master’s degree or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical field.
• 3 years of experience working in a complex matrixed organization involving cross-functional or cross-business projects.
• 3 years managing an engineering team.

• Hire and grow the engineering team in Warsaw, establish engineering culture, and manage engineers while maintaining engineering best practices and high quality.
• Develop, maintain, and ensure reliability and low-latency performance of high-queries per second distributed systems.
• Review code and provide feedback on style, accuracy, testability, and efficiency to ensure best practices.
• Facilitate alignment and clarity across teams on goals, outcomes, and timelines while managing project priorities and deliverables.
• Deliver Home infrastructure projects ensuring high engineering quality and collaboration with teams in different locations.
