Senior Software Engineer, Site Reliability Engineering, Vertex AI 3P

Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) combines software and systems engineering to build and run large-scale, massively distributed, fault-tolerant systems ensuring reliability and uptime for Google Cloud's services. Gemini Enterprise Agent Platform (Vertex AI) is Google Cloud's flagship AI platform supporting third-party model deployments, including GKE-based serving stack, which this role focuses on. The Technical Infrastructure team builds and maintains the architecture underlying Google products, including data centers and networks.

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 5 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages.
• 3 years of experience leading projects and providing technical leadership.
• 3 years experience in designing, analyzing, and troubleshooting large-scale distributed systems.

Nice to have:

• Master's degree in Computer Science or Engineering or a related technical field.
• Experience with cluster management systems and Google Cloud interactions.
• Experience with load balancing, high-availability, and scalable system design.
• Experience with performance analysis and optimization tools (e.g., Dapper, pprof).
• Familiarity with Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) or Production Engineering practices such as managing system reliability, uptime, performance, on-call, and incident response.

• Engage in and improve the whole lifecycle of services from inception and design through to deployment, operation, and refinement.
• Support services before they go live including system design consulting, software platform and framework development, capacity planning, and launch reviews.
• Maintain live services by measuring and monitoring availability, latency, and overall system health.
• Scale systems sustainably through automation and promote changes that improve reliability and velocity.
• Practice sustainable incident response and blameless post-mortems.
