Mid-Level Payments Production Support Engineer – Wholesale IT Solutions

This role is for a Mid-Level Payments Production Support Engineer working for a client in the global financial services industry. The position is based in Krakow with a hybrid work model allowing up to 3 remote days per week, focusing on technical operations of core payments systems employing Site Reliability Engineering principles.

• Minimum of 3 years' experience in payment systems or related financial technology environments.
• Strong proficiency in SQL and PL/SQL.
• At least 3 years' experience working with Linux.
• 2+ years' experience with Kubernetes.
• Solid understanding of Oracle database architecture.
• Experience scripting in Shell, Python, Bash, or Java for automation.
• Knowledge of system monitoring and performance optimization.
• Excellent troubleshooting and analytical skills.
• Experience with high-frequency change management, including automated CI/CD pipelines.
• Strong understanding of multiple technology layers: storage, OS, network, database, and applications.
• Fluent communication skills in English (spoken and written).
• Ability to triage under pressure and prioritize tasks effectively.
• Experience in Agile/DevOps environments supporting production systems.

Nice to have:

• Experience in Payments industry.
• Python or Java software development skills.
• Familiarity with Puppet, Ansible, or similar configuration management tools.

• Provide comprehensive day-to-day production support, resolving live incidents efficiently.
• Perform root cause analysis for major system problems and implement corrective measures.
• Install and deploy new software releases from vendors.
• Develop and support local solutions using scripting languages such as Shell, Python, Bash, or Java for automation.
• Support testing activities related to new implementations and updates.
• Collaborate with international stakeholders to review, design, and enhance processes with new technologies.
• Design, develop, and implement service enhancements, capability uplifts, and process improvements.
• Apply tools to analyze system architecture, monitor performance, and troubleshoot issues.
• Participate in data validation, development, and testing activities.
• Analyze key data areas to support root cause investigations and data reconciliation.
• Contribute to team objectives, occasionally leading activities to meet shared goals.
