Senior Software Engineer, Infrastructure Cluster Management

Google is a global technology company that develops next-generation technologies impacting billions of users, including products beyond web search such as distributed computing, large-scale system design, networking, data storage, and AI. The role is part of the Borglet team, which works on Google’s Cluster Management System focusing on workload management, hardware support, security, and infrastructure efficiency. The team consists of small autonomous groups working on various infrastructure projects supporting Google Cloud's mission to enable digital transformation worldwide.

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 5 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages.
• 3 years of experience testing, maintaining, or launching software products.
• 1 year of experience with software design and architecture.
• 3 years of experience with developing large-scale infrastructure, distributed systems, networks, or compute/storage/hardware architecture.

Preferred qualifications:

• Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or related field.
• 5 years of experience with data structures and algorithms.
• 1 year of experience in a technical leadership role.
• Experience developing accessible technologies.

• Write and test product or system development code.
• Participate in or lead design reviews with peers and stakeholders to decide amongst available technologies.
• Review code developed by other developers and provide feedback to ensure best practices including style guidelines, accuracy, testability, and efficiency.
• Contribute to and update existing documentation or educational content based on product updates and user feedback.
• Triage product or system issues; debug, track, and resolve issues affecting hardware, network, or service operations and quality.
