Software Engineer III, Site Reliability Engineering, GCP Identity

Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) combines software and systems engineering to build and run large-scale, massively distributed, fault-tolerant systems. SRE ensures that Google Cloud's services have reliability, uptime appropriate to customer's needs, and a fast rate of improvement. The team manages complex challenges of scale unique to Google Cloud, focusing on coding, algorithms, complexity analysis, and large-scale system design in an environment promoting collaboration and mentorship.

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 2 years of experience with software development in one or more of the following programming languages: C, C++, Java, Python, Go.
• Experience with algorithms, data structures, or Unix/Linux systems internals and administration.
• Preferred: Master's degree in Computer Science or Engineering.
• Preferred: 2 years experience designing, analyzing, and troubleshooting large-scale distributed systems.
• Preferred: Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools and automation.
• Preferred: Hands-on experience as a Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) or DevOps engineer.
• Preferred: Understanding of authentication and authorization protocols (e.g., OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, SAML).
• Preferred: Familiarity with Cloud technologies (e.g., GCP) and container orchestration (e.g., Kubernetes).

• Write product or system development code.
• Review code developed by other engineers and provide feedback on best practices including style guidelines, accuracy, testability, and efficiency.
• Contribute to and adapt existing documentation or educational content based on product updates and user feedback.
• Triage product or system issues and debug/analyze impacts on hardware, network, or service operations and quality.
• Participate in or lead design reviews with peers and stakeholders to decide among available technologies.
