Senior Mainframe Developer

The position is within Grafton Recruitment, focusing on IBM Mainframe business-critical applications development and maintenance in regulated industries such as banking and insurance.

• Minimum 5 years of experience with IBM Mainframe application development and maintenance.
• Strong knowledge of COBOL, JCL, CICS, and z/os.
• Hands-on experience with DB2 databases and SQL development.
• Ability to analyze business requirements and independently design effective solutions.
• Experience in troubleshooting production issues and optimizing applications.
• Proactive attitude with strong ownership and accountability.
• Strong collaboration and communication skills; English proficiency at B1 level or higher.

Nice to have:

• Experience with Git, Bitbucket, and CI/CD practices in Mainframe environments.
• Experience in banking, financial services, or insurance sectors.
• Knowledge of Mainframe modernization and AI-driven software development.
• Experience mentoring and supporting junior developers.

• Build, enhance, and maintain business-critical applications on IBM Mainframe technologies.
• Analyze business requirements and translate them into scalable technical solutions.
• Design and implement new Mainframe functionalities ensuring reliability, performance, and compliance.
• Optimize existing applications for performance, stability, and maintainability.
• Troubleshoot and resolve production issues with minimal disruption.
• Collaborate with international teams including analysts, architects, and developers.
• Contribute to long-term Mainframe modernization initiatives and support legacy systems evolution.
