Software Engineering Manager, Android and Business Communication Data Engineering

The Platforms and Devices team at Google encompasses various computing software platforms across environments including desktop, mobile, and applications, as well as first party devices and services integrating Google AI, software, and hardware. The team researches, designs, and develops new technologies to improve user interactions with computing and builds innovative experiences globally.

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 8 years of experience in software development.
• 3 years in a technical leadership role.
• 2 years in people management or team leadership.
• Experience integrating generative AI tools or Large Language Model (LLM) interfaces into workflows.

Preferred qualifications:

• Master’s degree or PhD in Computer Science or related field.
• 3 years working in a complex, matrixed organization.
• Experience in data engineering, data science, data platform engineering, or analytics.

• Set and communicate team priorities supporting the broader organization's goals.
• Align strategy, processes, and decision-making across teams.
• Set clear expectations with individuals based on role and level, providing regular feedback and coaching.
• Develop and evolve mid-term technical goals and roadmaps for one or more teams.
• Design, guide, and vet system designs within the broader area.
• Write product or system development code to solve ambiguous problems.
• Review code developed by engineers to ensure best practices including style guidelines, accuracy, testability, and efficiency.
