Software Engineer III, Health and Home

Google's software engineers develop next-generation technologies that impact billions of users and include areas such as information retrieval, distributed computing, large-scale system design, networking, data storage, security, AI, natural language processing, UI design, and mobile development. The Health and Home organization focuses on improving home and health experiences through scalable infrastructure, developer platforms, APIs, data services, and AI usage expansion. The Platforms and Devices team develops computing software platforms across environments and first-party devices combining Google AI, software, and hardware to create innovative user experiences globally.

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 2 years of experience with software development or 1 year of experience with an advanced degree in an industry setting.
• 2 years of experience with developing large-scale infrastructure, distributed systems or networks, or experience with compute technologies, storage or hardware architecture.
• 2 years of experience in software development with Java or C++.

Nice to have:

• Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical fields.
• 2 years of experience with data structures and algorithms.
• Experience developing accessible technologies.
• Experience refactoring and working in legacy systems.
• Experience with large, distributed infrastructure and working across multiple systems.

• Write product or system development code.
• Participate in, or lead design reviews with peers and stakeholders to decide amongst available technologies.
• Review code developed by other developers and provide feedback to ensure best practices (e.g., style guidelines, checking code in, accuracy, testability, and efficiency).
• Contribute to existing documentation or educational content and adapt content based on product/program updates and user feedback.
• Triage product or system issues and debug/track/resolve by analyzing the sources of issues and the impact on hardware, network, or service operations and quality.
