Software Engineer Manager, Pixel Kernel and Codebase

The Google Pixel team designs and builds premium mobile devices and services showcasing the potential of the Android platform. The Platforms and Devices team develops computing software platforms across desktop, mobile, and applications environments, combining Google AI, software, and hardware to build innovative user experiences worldwide.

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 8 years of experience in software development.
• 3 years of experience with embedded operating systems.
• 3 years of experience in a technical leadership role.
• 2 years of experience in a people management or team leadership role.
• Experience with Linux/Kernel development.

Preferred qualifications:

• Master’s degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical field.
• 3 years of experience working in a complex, matrixed organization.
• Experience with Android BSP, Android Internals, Android Kernel.

• Lead a team responsible for delivering Pixel kernels with a relentless focus on quality and velocity.
• Define team strategy, manage team project goals, and provide direct technical leadership for all team projects.
• Set clear expectations with individuals based on their level and role, meet regularly to discuss performance and development, providing feedback and coaching.
• Collaborate effectively with global teams, set and communicate team priorities that support broader organizational goals.
