Software Engineering Manager, Site Reliability Engineering, BigQuery, Google Cloud

Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) at Google involves building and running large-scale, massively distributed, fault-tolerant systems to ensure service reliability and uptime. The role is part of Google's Technical Infrastructure team responsible for maintaining data centers and platforms that support Google's product portfolio globally.

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 8 years of experience in software development involving one or more programming languages.
• 3 years of experience managing people or teams.
• 3 years of experience leading projects.
• 3 years of experience designing, analyzing, and troubleshooting distributed systems.
• Familiarity with data warehouse internals, including SQL query optimization, columnar storage formats, or large-scale distributed database design (preferred).
• Ability to debug, optimize code, and automate routine tasks (preferred).

• Lead a team of Software/Systems Engineers on projects to ensure uptime.
• Own end-to-end availability and performance of key services and build automation to prevent problem recurrence.
• Automate responses to all non-exceptional service conditions.
• Lead by example, mentor team members, and establish credibility through quality technical execution.
• Manage on-call rotations across continents using a follow-the-sun model.
• Design, write, and deliver software to improve availability, scalability, latency, and efficiency of Google's services.
