Software Engineer II, Google Messages, Front End

Google's Platforms and Devices team encompasses various computing software platforms across environments (desktop, mobile, applications), as well as first party devices and services combining Google AI, software, and hardware. The team researches, designs, and develops new technologies to make user interactions with computing faster and more seamless.

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
• Minimum 1 year experience in software development using one or more programming languages such as Python, C, C++, Java, JavaScript.
• Minimum 1 year experience with data structures and algorithms.
• Minimum 1 year experience with front-end and user interface development.

Preferred qualifications:

• Experience in ML model coding languages like Python.
• Experience in backend coding languages such as Go (GOLang), Rust, or Java.
• Experience in web front-end development or Android development.
• Familiarity with Kotlin, backend services, and Android apps.

• Review code developed by other developers and provide feedback to ensure best practices such as style guidelines, accuracy, testability, and efficiency.
• Contribute to existing documentation or educational content and adapt it based on product updates and user feedback.
• Triage product or system issues and debug/resolve by analyzing the impact on hardware, network, or service operations.
• Collaborate in a team to enhance the texting experience on desktops and tablets for Android users.
• Participate in UX and product decisions, not just implementation.
