Senior Software Architect

FIS Technology Services Poland Sp. z o.o. operates in the financial services technology sector. The role is part of the Non-Functional Engineering (NFE) team responsible for the performance, scalability, and resilience of the OPF payments product line, with a global operation across EMEA, the US, APAC, and India.

• Substantial experience as a performance architect or senior performance engineer optimizing large-scale, high-throughput Java systems.
• Hands-on expertise in Java profiling tools such as Java Flight Recorder, async-profiler, JProfiler, or YourKit.
• Proven ability to analyse thread dumps and diagnose concurrency issues like deadlocks and contention.
• Strong knowledge of JVM garbage collection internals (G1, ZGC, Shenandoah, CMS) and GC log interpretation.
• Experience reading and optimizing database execution plans for Oracle or PostgreSQL.
• Developer mindset with proficiency in reading and writing production-quality Java code and validating optimizations through measurement.

• Profile Java applications across CPU, memory, threads, and I/O using tools such as Java Flight Recorder, async-profiler, and JProfiler.
• Analyse thread dumps to diagnose lock contention, deadlocks, thread-pool exhaustion, and blocking I/O, then reshape concurrency models.
• Manage garbage collection analysis and JVM tuning, including sizing heaps and selecting collectors to reduce pause times.
• Read and interpret database execution plans to tune SQL, indexes, and joins for performance optimization.
• Work directly in codebases to propose, implement, and validate code-level optimizations.
• Design and lead load, stress, soak, and failover testing campaigns and drive performance investigations during customer escalations.
