Senior Technical Solutions Engineer, Networking

The job is with the Google Cloud Platform team, which helps customers transform and build business solutions using cloud technology. The team supports a wide range of customers including developers, businesses, educational institutions, and government agencies globally. The role is part of an entrepreneurial team within a rapidly growing business focused on cloud-based infrastructure to applications.

• Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, or equivalent practical experience.
• 9 years of experience troubleshooting and advocating for customer needs, triaging technical issues (hardware, software, application, operational, process).
• Experience with one scripting or coding language such as Python or shell scripting.
• Systems experience with operating systems like Linux or Unix.
• Knowledge of OS kernel, file systems, and TCP/IP network protocols including DNS, routing, firewalls, and load balancing.

Preferred qualifications:

• Experience with Kubernetes or container networking.
• Experience in software-defined networking with public cloud or SDN software.
• Knowledge of network specific kernel parameters (TCP keepalives, TCP windows).
• Familiarity with HTTP protocol and HTTP based APIs.
• Familiarity with network namespaces and packet capture techniques.

• Work as part of a team providing 24-hour global customer support.
• Diagnose, resolve, or implement tools to increase productivity for issues on Google Cloud Platform products.
• Act as a consultant and subject matter expert for Engineering, Sales, and customer organizations to resolve deployment obstacles.
• Develop deep understanding of Google Cloud networking technologies and their internal details.
• Collaborate with product engineering teams to improve supportability of networking technologies and assist in product launches.
