Backend Developer

Shiji Poland develops a distributed system serving the hospitality industry, consisting of many domain-oriented microservices under a few cross-functional teams. The system allows hotel employees and managers to handle reservations, payments, and hotel services within and between hotels. The platform uses cloud native technologies and is deployed on Kubernetes on AWS infrastructure.

• 2+ years of experience in a similar role.
• Advanced knowledge of Object-Oriented and/or Functional Programming paradigms.
• Proficient in C#, .NET, Web API (REST), Entity Framework or other ORM tools (Dapper, NHibernate).
• Knowledge of databases such as PostgreSQL or Elastic Search.
• Experience with Unit and Integration testing.
• Ability to write clean code with tests.
• Open-minded and proactive attitude.

Nice to have:

• Experience with Integration Systems and patterns (XML/SOAP, JSON, CSV, FTP or HTTP message transformation/delivery, competing consumers pattern, pipes and filters).
• Experience with distributed systems, transactions, multi-tenant and multi-region systems.
• Basic knowledge of Linux and Docker.

Daily Work:

• Follow Scrum framework involving sprint planning, grooming, retrospectives, and code freezes.
• Use GitLab and Jenkins for version control and CI/CD pipelines with daily commits.
• Utilize merge requests with peer reviews before merging code.
• Develop and deploy microservices locally using Docker and Docker Compose.
• Create and share NuGet packages within the team.
• Use Visual Studio, Rider, or VS Code for coding.
• Communicate and participate in meetings via Teams.

General:

• Collaborate with Product Owners on grooming business requirements before development.
• Design, implement, and maintain new system functionalities.
• Perform daily code reviews.
• Guide other developers in proper implementation of business requirements.
