Software Engineer III, Android Launcher

Google's Platforms and Devices team develops computing software platforms across environments including desktop and mobile, combining Google AI, software, and hardware to build innovative user experiences globally.

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 2 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages, or 1 year with an advanced degree.
• 2 years of experience with Android application development.

Nice to have:

• Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical fields.
• 2 years of experience with data structures and algorithms.
• Experience developing accessible technologies.

• Design, implement, and launch new features for the Android Overview experience, including drag and drop, pagination, and multi-display support.
• Analyze and improve the performance, responsiveness, and memory footprint of Overview features within Launcher.
• Contribute to architectural modernization of Launcher using Model-View-ViewModel (MVVM) and Jetpack Compose.
• Collaborate with UX/UI designers, product managers, and engineers on multitasking solutions.
• Develop and improve testing infrastructure to ensure stability and address test flakiness.
