Software Engineer III, AI/ML, Vertex Inference On Hybrid Clouds

Google develops next-generation technologies that impact billions of users, focusing on information retrieval, distributed computing, AI, NLP, UI design, and mobile. The Vertex on Hybrid cloud team introduces cutting-edge AI/ML capabilities to Google Cloud, including GenAI and MLOps, targeting researchers, data scientists, and data engineers across enterprises and startups. The Google Cloud AI Research team addresses AI challenges across industries like tech, healthcare, finance, and retail to maximize scientific and real-world impact.

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 2 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages, or 1 year with an advanced degree.
• 1 year of experience with speech/audio technology, reinforcement learning, ML infrastructure, or another ML specialization.
• 1 year of experience with ML infrastructure including model deployment, evaluation, optimization, data processing, and debugging.

Preferred qualifications:

• Master’s degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical fields.
• 2 years of experience with data structures and algorithms.
• Experience developing accessible technologies.

• Write product or system development code.
• Collaborate with peers and stakeholders through design and code reviews to ensure best practices.
• Contribute to documentation or educational content and update it based on product and user feedback.
• Triage product or system issues and debug by analyzing impacts on hardware, network, or service quality.
• Implement solutions in specialized ML areas, utilize ML infrastructure, and contribute to model optimization and data processing.
